If you haven't started yet, you should. They are two of the more normal and socially-accepted addictions these days, and yes, it is becoming more acceptable for men to be in tune with their feminine sides and do stuff like that. I'm thinking of knitting a little blanket for my brother-in-law's baby niece, though I'll probably hafta get some softer yarn. Just finished knitting another dish cloth with a crochet border and a crochet flower. Might just be good for decorative purposes or for holding somewhat hot plates, but yeah, knitting is awesome fun.
Also, if you like stuff from the 90's, watch MST3K on youtube. That's another great, somewhat socially-acceptable addiction. Just don't get into the whole Joel/Mike debate - that went stale years ago.
